I hope the school year is off to a great start and you have reached maximum capacity in your day care. I know everyone is busy but please remeber that election day, November 6 is just three weeks away. Presidential elections are always important. There's been a lot on the news with presidential/vice presidential debates, confusing data about unemployment numbers going up and down and influential people advising not to vote this year. I would say two things in response to all this. The first being that many people sacrificed and gave thier lives so we could have the right to vote. Even in this day in age, there are many efforts being made to strip certain people of that right. Secondly, we can't complain about decisions being made that are not in our interest when we sat back and could have done something but instead did nothing. Please exercise your right to vote.
The following information is directed at homebased and small day care programs. Recently in NY,as recently as two weeks ago, Mayor Bloomberg and Chancellor Walcott, announced that Educare- a charter school company, would be coming to NYC nex Fall. Now we are going to be competing with charter preschool programs. Educare will mainly replace Head Start programs that are failing. But this is usually how it starts. In time, Educare will siphon government funding away from other day care programs as well. These decisions will affect your business tremendously. The pattern in this coutry for the past few decades have been to crown out small busineses. You have a say in all this by being invloved. Getting out to vote and encouraging others to vote. Again exercise that right no matter what the outcome.
